About How Bald

A plain-language reference for the questions people actually type into Google about hair loss.

What this site is

How Bald exists because the first page of Google for "norwood scale" or "hair transplant cost" is almost entirely clinics. Clinics are selling something, so their answers are shaped accordingly. We are not a clinic and we do not sell procedures, medication or consultations.

The site has three parts: a Norwood stage finder that tells you where you sit on the scale and what that typically means, a hair transplant cost calculator with per-country price data, and a set of guides that compare treatments and lay out month-by-month timelines using the published evidence.

How we work

Every number on the site is sourced. Cost data comes from published clinic price lists, professional-body surveys and patient-reported figures, and is reviewed periodically; the date each page was last revised is in the sitemap and on the page. Treatment claims link to the primary studies. The full list of sources and how we combine them is on the methodology page.

We do not rank clinics, we do not accept payment for placement, and we do not collect your health information. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed on every affected page.

What this site is not

It is not medical advice. The Norwood scale is a description of a pattern, not a diagnosis, and a cost estimate is not a quote. If you are considering treatment, talk to a dermatologist or a hair restoration surgeon. See the medical disclaimer.
